In Cameron Highland, besides causing loss of lives, it also damaged the highway which was usually the main road there. This will disturbed the economic activity where it can delay the delivery of agriculture products since Cameron Highland was one of the main sources of agriculture in Malaysia. Besides, landslide will also disturb tourism in Cameron Highland because roads will be closed, transportation will be delayed and tourist will afraid to come there. From 1973–2007, the total economic loss due to landslides was estimated about US $1 billion. Most of landslide events in this country occurred during rainy seasons or after prolonged heavy rainfall. This can be understood since this country, due to its geographical position, experiences two maritime monsoons namely northeast and southwest monsoons. Soil erosion that occurred due to natural process is usually does not cause much problem. It becomes a problem when human activity causes it to occur at much faster rate than under natural conditions. The main cause of landslide in Cameron Highland is illegal deforestation. The term deforestation can be defined as the action of clearing wide area of trees. About 30% of Earth’s surface is covered by forest. Deforestation occurs for multiple reasons such as trees are cut down to be used for building or sold as charcoal. The cleared areas after the deforestation will be used as a development area. It will result in habitat damage, biodiversity loss and aridity. Deforestation also been used for war purposes. But now days, there are no wars happened so it was not a reason for people can cut down trees illegally. Between 2000 and 2012, 2.3 million square kilometres of forest around the world were cut down. As a result, only 6.2 million square kilometres remain of the original 16 million square kilometres of forest that formerly covered the Earth. Deforestation can cause a lot of damages other than landslides. Deforestation can also increase greenhouse gas emission. We all know that forest help to process carbon dioxide that we produce and changed it to oxygen by doing photosynthesis. It will contribute to rising temperatures if a lot of trees cut down. Changes in climate can affect forest dwelling creatures by altering their habitats and decreasing availability of food and water and species losses may occur if this thing keep go on. This incident luckily not cause any loss of life and injury and no vehicles were involved in the incident but there are roads that closed for caution purposes. It was normal landslide happened natural because of rain and structure of soil is not strong. The big problem was landslide that happen because of illegal deforestation ran by irresponsible person. Thirdly, nowadays construction is growing in fast pace and areas like Cameron Highlands are developing building to attract tourists afterward increase the economy. As the areas develop, it forces major areas have to be cleared-up for construction. Deforestation has to be taken placed to attain the deed of construction areas. Thus, the ecosystem and environment is disrupted which is more prone to landslide if the activities of deforestation is conducted in steep areas. Afterward, as the construction taking place it might causing further problem if there is no proper drainage system that can flow rainwater to the suitable areas. Construction authorities should be aware and conscious about how to manage rainwater so that it will not affecting the surrounding predominantly in steep areas to avoid landslide. The landslide happened at Batu 49, Kampung Raja. When the incident occurred in 3 o’clock in the morning. The victim and his friend was taking a rest at a hut at the foot of a hill however his friend manage to run from the landslide. The victim was taken for post mortem to the Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom Hospital [2]. Jalan Brinchang-Tringkap (2014) A man lost his beloved wife and son in a landslide tragedy. M. Nitiahwaty, 24, and R. Rubeniswaran, her one year old son were buried alive in the landslide. The most heartbreaking is the woman was eight months pregnant. The husband, V. Raja, 41, was rescued by fire and rescue. Mr. Raja had fractured his left leg and was buried up to the chest when he was being rescued. Stuart to take his Cavalry Corps east and south around Meades right flank.  Once in the Union rear, he was attack towards the Baltimore Pike which served as the primary line of retreat for the Army of the Potomac. Opposing Stuart were elements of Major General Alfred Pleasontons Cavalry Corps.  Disliked and mistrusted by Meade, Pleasonton was retained at the armys headquarters while his superior directed cavalry operations personally.  Of the corps three divisions, two remained in the Gettysburg area with that of Brigadier General David McM. Gregg located east of the main Union line while Brigadier General Judson Kilpatricks men protected the Union left to the south.  The bulk of the third division, belonging to Brigadier General John Buford, had been sent south to refit after playing a key role in the early fighting on July 1.  Only Bufords reserve brigade, led by Brigadier General Wesley Merritt, remained in the area and held a position south of the Round Tops.  To reinforce the position east of Gettysburg, orders were issued for Kilpatrick to loan Brigadier General George A. Custers brigade to Gregg. Gettysburg-East Cavalry Fight - First Contact: Holding a position at the intersection of the Hanover and Low Dutch Roads, Gregg deployed the bulk of his men along the former facing north while Colonel John B. McIntoshs brigade occupied a position behind the latter facing northwest.  Approaching the Union line with four brigades, Stuart intended to pin Gregg in place with dismounted troopers and then launch an attack from the west using Cress Ridge to shield his movements.  Advancing the brigades of Brigadier Generals John R. Location Matters

Twenty-five cent lemonade stands have cornered the market in beverage sales in neighborhoods across America. Lemonade stand â€Å"franchisers† have figured out that cute kids on sunny days with cool beverages in convenient corner locations can bring in pretty decent revenue. Unfortunately for them, their market is limited†¦to those within walking distance of the lemonade stand and those who happen to be driving through the neighborhood. Deciding where to run a business can be a pretty daunting task. There are six areas in which a businessperson can choose to operate his business, and the final decision will have a great impact on its success. Among locations from which to choose are central business districts (CBD), neighborhood locations, malls and shopping centers, near competitors, outlying areas, and home offices. Considering what the â€Å"type† of business is, the target market and the area surrounding the prospective location are all factors that will assist in determining where the best place to operate will be. Central Business Districts are located in the heart of a city, and are usually referred to as â€Å"downtown† in America (Wikipedia, 2006). One advantage to operating a business in a CBD is exposure, due to being surrounded by an assortment of retailers and services, allowing people who are not necessarily a target market to become aware of the business. However, disadvantages such as saturation, traffic and costs of purchasing a space could outweigh advantages, depending on the type of business (Leposky, 2005). Neighborhood locations offer a more intimate setting for a business’s customer base. Away from the hustle and bustle of CBD’s, neighborhood locations generally offer lower rental rates, more support from neighboring businesses and assist in adding vitality to surrounding neighborhoods . Malls and shopping centers offer locations which are usually equipped with fixtures, on-site maintenance, and  assistance with marketing. Conversely, these locations often charge steeply for space. For some businesses, such as McDonalds and Burger King, operating near competitors has proven success. This type of local provides choice for consumers, and the opportunity to shine for the business†¦but lack of performance could win business for the competitor. Conveniently, operating in an outlying area allows rest in the matter of competition. However, â€Å"inconvenience† also has the opportunity to slow business. Home-based operations are becoming more and more popular these days. Advantages such as low overhead, more time with family and, of course, no commute are among the factors leading to the growing transition from business office to home office (Pratt, 2006). But operating from home sometimes projects un-professionalism, constant interruptions and the inconvenience of friends and family assuming that you are always available. Setting up shop just â€Å"anywhere† is not as easy as it seems. There is a strategy to choosing a location, and a business owner’s final decision could make or break his business. Each one of the locations offer benefits as well as challenges, but ultimately, the saying â€Å"location, location, location† holds true†¦ success will not find the business whose location is amiss. Cloud Atlas Concept of â€Å"predacity† as related to class topics: The concept of â€Å"predacity†, in my opinion, is related to so many of the topics discussed in class. The most formidable connection would be that of human on human. In regards to race, class and gender, â€Å"predcaity† fits the system in which the American culture has been designed around. Rich white men have been the predators of poor minorities and women since the creation of the United States. Minorities and women have been discriminated against since the pilgrims set sail and the revolutionaries first wrote the declaration of independence.What followed was a constitution that, in theory, gave only white men the freedom of life, liberty and property. Women and blacks couldn’t own property nor did they have the same liberty white men had. To this day women and minorities are still discriminated against in a predator like way. Predacity could even be taken to the extent of harming wom en and races that weren’t white. The Native American Indians were murdered for their land, Africans were enslaved, killed and tortured at the crack of their masters whip. The vicious truth of human nature is one of animal like â€Å"Predator vs Prey† approach.The one actor said a couple times throughout the movie that â€Å"those who are weak are meat, those who are strong will eat. † Rich white men have preyed on the economical and social gain of others for millennium. What we’ve discussed in class shows predacity like examples in current systems we have in the United States today. The way corporations prey on those who will work or are forced to work for cheap or no labor in over sea workshops and brothel like set-ups gives more verification to human predacity in modern times. Recurrence as a theme and preventing predacity from recurring:The theme of recurring in the movie happened with every different time and environment. People preying on people, com panies preying on companies and groups preying on groups were all part of the theme of the movie. Examples like the oil company hoping the nuclear building failed and killed as many lives as possible was a form of predacity. The cannibal hunters that continued to attack Tom Hanks village was a form of predacity and the Asian women being used as a tool for economic gain was a form of human on human predacity.What was clear was the failure of some individuals to change the path of recurring predacity. The way in which predacity was prevented from recurring was an individual’s love for another. It was the love for another person that forced change within the individual that created a change from the recurring theme. We saw examples of this when the man who helped the African on the sail boat and decided not to deal with slave owners and move east to help the abolitionists, Tom Hanks when he didn’t kill or stop Halle Berry when she told him that what he believed in was act ually false and incorrect.In order to change the recurring theme the individuals within the environment must change first. This is one of the fundamental ideas we have discussed throughout course discussions. I personally loved this movie. It was arguably one of the best movies I’ve seen in some time and was highly enjoyable. It showed the power of love for people and the way an individual can change the course of predcaity. I gave it an A+.

He repeatedly tells us that an individuals freedom to do and think as he pleases is an absolute right which should not be interfered with through legal or moral coercion unless the action is causing harm to others The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others Surely any form of taxation is violating peoples right to liberty, as they are having the freedom of choice taken away from them. Surely even taxation as a form of showing societys disapproval of consumption of a certain good such as alcohol is coming very close to breaking his idea of absolute freedom over actions which only affect the consumer. Mill writes that the taxation of goods which are positively injurious to the consumer are justified. He justifies this assertion on a few grounds; he says this is a way of expressing societys disapproval of certain actions. The state while it permits should nevertheless indirectly discourage conduct which it deems contrary to the best interests of the agent There are many ways in which society can show its disapproval of an action, Mill normally suggest this should be done by allowing free speech so that people can discuss and advise people on matters. It doesnt seem to me that taxation can be reconciled with his maxim of liberty on the ground of showing societys disapproval.
